Beyonce Spectacle

If you watched the VMAs this year, one of the only things you will remember is beyonce announcing her pregnancy and or the amazingly talented Adele, peforming "someone like you". Let me talk about the former for a second. Beyonce and her belly have probably been one of the most talked about topics in the media for quite some time now. Several rumors have come out of her being pregnant over the years. That sunday, she announced she was pregnant and it is like almost everyone went crazy. My favorite part of her showing her baby bump was when they turned the camera to JayZ and he seemed to be the happiest man in the room. That was cute. People were genuinely happy for them. A lot of people's reactions made it seem like they knew this woman personally. While it is cool that she is expecting her first child, i don't understand what the big deal is. Why was this such a spectacle? why was everyone reacting like their older sister just got pregnant and they were going to become an uncle/aunt? I realize this makes me sound like a pessimist (pronounced "hater") but seriously, what is the deal?
On twitter, beyonce fans went crazy! It is sad that a small announcement such as this will create such a stir. It might be because of the fact that these two people are both household names and dominating the music industry. It also might be the fact that the media does not showcase successful black couples who have been married for a while. I mean we have will & jada smith but they are the prototype couple. One thing i DO admire is the fact that these two (jayz and beyonce) went about things the right way, as in: courting, dating, marriage and baby. They are also extremely successful so it isn't like one of them is the breadwinner and the other one just happened to be at the right place at the right time. get my drift? I will never understand why and how the american population receives certain things. I am tired of trying to understand. In the spirit of joyful news, good for them!

peace&love
