What's your addiction?

The serenity prayer, historically, has been a prayer said by people suffering from addiction. It is usually said after an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting or any other program which has 12-steps for recovering addicts. This prayer, in my opinion, is beautifully written. Concise and to the point. Yesterday, i heard an India Arie song whose lyrics were those of the serenity prayer. It wasn't my first time to hear the song. Actually, i've listened to india arie records, that one in particular, many times. Yesterday, i heard it again and it just hit me in a funny way. I had to replay in two or three times and i haven't been able to get it out of my mind since. t got me thinking about addiction. Everyone has an addiction. Wether it be to food, to sleep, to a person, a broken heart, whatever. We all suffer from some kind of addiction. Some of us overcome our addictions and others don't. Some of us are in recovery, some of us have relapsed and some of us are just getting by. Day after day. Whatever the case, the serenity prayer to me is recognizing that something is bigger than you and asking God for help....Am i making sense? With all that said, i close this with india's version:

oh God grant me the serenity to accept the things that I cannot change
The courage to change the things that I can,
The wisdom to know the difference
Oh and God give me the courage to love with an open heart,
I wanna love with an open heart

Peace&love
