Congratulations?

Hi.

I have a question. Why do people say congratulations when a person gets into a new relationship? when did being in a relationship become an accomplishment to be congratulated for? Has it always been an accomplishment and i just didn't know? Want to see what i mean? Go on FB right now and change your relationship status from single to in a relationship. You will have at least one comment saying congrats. It is a little funny.
Anyway, i hear it a lot these days from people wishing one another a good relationship. I have a coworker who just recently got into a partnership and she won't shut up about it. It is all she talks about. Sometimes i'm like Chai, do u have anything else to say? I guess it is not a bad thing to wish someone well wishes in a new union these days. We live in a world full of temptation, lies and all kinds of crazy things that a relationship which makes it past the one year mark deserves some Kudos. A lot of people in this generation are hesitant when they meet someone to take a friendship to the next level. Men are scared of committing to the wrong woman while women are afraid of getting hurt (again). Women will find a way to be with almost any man if he treats her right. I'm going off on a tangent but this is just something i noticed. Is it really worth congratulating?

peace&love
