Disclaimer: Before you read this, you should know that i am a single woman with no emotional or physical ties to any man. The fact that i am single does not make me bitter, lonely or confused. Infact, i am VERY happy and i love my life. I don't love it everyday, but i am so happy to be alive. I DO believe in the saying of "not listening to your single friends when it comes to relationship advice" but take this post as you want to. This post is just to comment on some things i have observed lately when it comes to dating/talking/male-female interactions. When it comes to dating or "talking", there are certain things that must be acknowledged to be succesful. Mind you, there shouldn't be any rules to following your heart but there are some things you do and there are some things you just don't.

1. If you plan on pursuing something more than friendship with someone, please make your intentions clear VERBALLY so that both parties are aware of what is going on. Beating around the bush will not get you anywhere and is quite frankly annoying. Don't get mad when that person moves on and starts talking to someone else! This goes to both sexes

2. PLEASE, for the love of Jesus! Leave the EX in the past where they belong! Nobody wants to deal with your baggage. Deal with your issues BEFORE you get into a new relationship. When i say issues, i mean everything!

3. Don't compare your ex to the new person for ANYTHING...that is downright disrespectful and you neeed to get slapped for that

4. If you have low self-esteem, jealousy issues, anger problems, you don't need to be in any relationship and putting that drama on someone else. It is called therapy. Use it.

5. Facebook/twitter has the power to KILL your relationship. Yuppp, sure does. Leave the social networking alone.

6. It is called a couple for a reason. As in two people. As in let your business stay between you and your mate. Not you, your mate and her girlfriends down the block or his boys from around the way.

7. COMMUNICATION is the key to every successful endeavor. TALK to your partner about everything. i am not psychic and neither are you. if you don't tell me what's wrong, sorry! can't help u. This goes both ways, especially to FEMALES!

8. "Talking" has like 5000 definitions now. It is important to say what exactly your relation to that person is about. If it's about the sex, just make sure you are making that clear from day one. Don't lead someone on and get feelings hurt when all that could've been avoided if intentions were made clear.

9. I believe where there is a WILL, there is definitely a WAY! if you want someone, get them! climb whatever mountain and get over whatever roadblock and the reward will be that much sweeter!

10. Leave my cell phone alone and i'll leave yours! (stop being insecure)

11. Passwords exist for a reason. NO i will not give u access to my e-mail! Even if i had nothing to hide, you aren't getting it.

12. GOD and my Family will come before you! Live with it.

13. A man and a woman CAN be just friends! sheesh

14. Cheating: (verb) Doing something you wouldn't want your partner to do!!

15. Sweetie, i know you want to treat me to dinner but it's ok if i pick up the tab once in a while....no need to be egoistic about it.

16. Respect and patience will usually reward you lol

17. I am tired and it is late so i am going to sleep! lol
